Ronin Shell is an experimental command shell I’m using to teach myself more UNIX systems programming, and to experiment with structured IO like that in rush and Windows’ ‘PowerShell’.
The goals I have for it (off the top of my head) are:
- Function as an adequate replacement for proper featureful command shells like
tcsh for most day-to-day tasks.
- Allow the user to treat the filehandles of
stdio as objects, allowing deferred pipelines, multiple redirections, etc.
- Parallel execution over multiple hosts with no special installation (i.e., unlike
rush which requires
- Pluggable features.
